Ending plastic pollution and shifting to a true circular economy has become a priority objective to curb and reduce negative impacts on nature, health and climate. It is precisely for this reason that the United Nations has defined the main theme of the
Environment Day 2023
to combat this problem, promoting the search for solutions through a global movement that involves companies, governments and citizens in general.
From the entity, they have assured that humanity produces more than 430 million tons of plastic per year, two thirds of which are short-lived products that soon become waste.
In addition to highlighting the importance of promoting recycling, the latest UN report focused its recommendations on two other areas: reuse and reorientation-diversification, which includes replacing disposable products such as plastic wrapping, sachets and take-away items with products made from alternative materials. “The world of compostable bioplastics is a great opportunity for people to make changes in their daily lives without losing the convenience and versatility of plastic. One of the biggest barriers to establishing more sustainable routines is that people assume it will be more difficult and expensive, and that myth is being broken thanks to innovation,” said Rodrigo Sandoval, CEO of I Am Not Plastic, a Chilean start-up that offers 100% compostable products for the home and businesses.
You already know us! Our solutions range from garbage bags, airtight and pet waste bags, to developments specially designed for the restaurant and hotel industry, such as vacuum bags and pastry bags. All of them are made from biodegradable biopolymers, i.e., if subjected to correct composting processes, they biodegrade in 180 days instead of 500 years.
